Town Hall: Superintendent Shares Plans for Enhancing Academics

Duncanville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith recently hosted a district Town Hall meeting at Duncanville High School, which had more than 200 people in attendance. At the Nov. 17th meeting, Dr. Smith shared information about the top accountability rating for our schools, district statistics, updated bond information and plans to expand academic offerings.

A few highlights from the district Town Hall included:

·        Plans to open an all-day pre-kindergarten academy at Acton and Hastings elementary schools

·        Returning Junior ROTC to the district

·        Development of a Collegiate Academy, which already has a designated location in DHS and new technology has been added

·        Consideration of choice schools in available space at some campuses

Dr. Smith also stressed the importance of listening to our parents, students, community members and employees. To gather feedback, Dr. Smith encouraged people to submit questions for the district Town Hall. Many were answered at the meeting, but because of the high volume of questions, he asked that people include contact information and he is now reaching back out to those individuals and provided responses to their questions.
