Greetings Parents and Scholars!
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to my Pre-AP English II course for the 2019-2020 school year! I am proud to be joining such a dynamic and highly esteemed team of professionals, students, and families here at DHS Collegiate Academy. This year, I aim to bring the "LIT" back into literature by fostering a culture of resilient and innovative critical thinkers with high ethical standards. In my classroom, you can expect to see collaboration, rigorous yet riveting lessons, and socially relevant materials that are thought provoking and culturally diverse. Students, the course work this year will require you to expand your thinking and challenge your work ethic and ability to retain information. We will be fine tuning your reading, writing, organization, and leadership skills to ensure a smooth transition into college next year and beyond! My expectations for you are extremely HIGH but trust that you will be heard, safe, and SUCCESSFUL this year!!!
"Great books help you understand AND they help you feel understood." -John Green
I am a proud HBCU Alumna of the illustrious Prairie View A&M University. I obtained my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as my Bachelor's in English with a minor in Communications from this prodigious institution.
I am also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Inc. I'm big on paying it forward and giving back to my community and this organization has aided me greatly in this pursuit.
Outside of school, you can catch me at a concert, on a road trip, game nights with family & friends, or my ultimate favorite... curled up in a thick blanket with a book or watching a new netflix original series.
Honorable mentions include food and shopping! :)
