Dear Teachers and Campus Staff,
As a follow up for guidance for the next two weeks, please understand that we know you have limitations and are working to protect your own families during this time. We value you! We want work expectations to be reasonable and in the best interest of Duncanville ISD students. We know you will be working in unusual circumstances and doing your absolute best.
Learning At Home
The “Learning At Home” website became available this weekend with online resources posted for families to utilize starting Monday, March 23rd. At this time, parents will have website tools while our district and campus teams begin planning for distance learning. Between the ten instructional days of March 23rd through April 3rd, more details will be mapped out and processes solidified.
Starting Monday, March 23rd, campus-based professional staff, including teachers, will maintain office hours of 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. to support parents and students learning at home until further notice. Staff should be available to answer questions from parents and students, as well as meet remotely with campus leadership.
Training modules will be sent out with instructions on how to design a Google classroom. Don’t stress! We are here to support you in this virtual way of instruction. The Google classrooms should be operational for each teacher to share with his/her administrator by Wednesday, April 1st. Teachers who need technical support can request at 972-708-2300 and email@example.com. Teachers who have instructional technology questions (for example, help using Google Classroom), please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
For secondary teachers and students, Edgenuity content courses will be pushed out with training modules for additional resource support.

Along with the current self-paced technology modules offered through the Duncanville ISD instructional technology department, a new COVID-19 page has been added to the Professional Development site (Class Links). Beginning Monday, March 23rd, teachers will need to identify individual learning needs and seek out relevant modules for learning. If additional guidance is needed to work through the modules, teachers should contact their campus media specialist(s), teacher specialists, or the instructional technology specialist assigned to their campus.

Why are we requesting this format?
TEA is expecting school districts to account for instructional time for students while remote learning is underway. There are two ways in which we can document this for TEA: 1) Time and effort in Google Classroom; 2) Time and effort through parent attestation logs for non-digital learning at home. Both will be developed as processes during Phase Two.

The rest of the expectations for planning learning experiences, ongoing instruction, and grading will be shared with teachers and campus staff on or before Friday, March 27th, and will include parent-teacher and student-teacher expectations.
I know that there are also questions about other topics that impact our school district family. As decisions are made, we will make sure those are shared with you as quickly as possible.
The final thing that I ask of you is to remain positive in light of the complexity of our situation. Please lift each other up and let’s all work together as we take care of our students, while protecting and caring for our families.
