Thank you, Duncanville ISD community, for supporting Bond 2023. Implementing this bond is in progress, and we want to keep you informed and continue to get your input. Bond 2023 enables us to renovate all campuses and reconfigure elementary campuses from PK—4th grade to PK—5th grade. Middle schools will become campuses for grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. Additionally, we will rezone our schools into feeder patterns that matriculate to Duncanville High School.
Considering recent enrollment and funding trends and the excitement of offering more robust school choice options to our community, Smith Elementary will become an Early Learning Academy for three-year-olds, Central Elementary will become a Fine Arts Academy for kindergarten through fifth grade, and Brandenburg Intermediate will be transformed into a state-of-the-art Middle School Fine Arts Academy for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.
The Smith Early Learning Academy for three-year-old students will open in August 2026. Brandenburg Fine Arts Academy will open in August of 2027. Delaying the opening of Brandenburg until 2027 is not something the district takes lightly. This decision aims to ensure we have time to recruit and retain additional Fine Arts experts for the middle school level to provide the best educational experience for every student.
We are the City of Champions because we win in the arts, academics, athletics, and because we have an unwavering commitment to see all our citizens succeed. We value your trust and are here to guide everyone through this transformation. We will continue to provide information and get input from campus staff and community members as we implement Bond 2023. Our ultimate goal is to provide CHAMPIONSHIP learning experiences for every child, every day, so that every child can go PRO in whatever they choose.
Building the Future, Raising Champions,
Dr. T. Lamar Goree
