Alec Hawkins has been serving as head athletic trainer at Duncanville High School since 2009. Before that, Alec was the head athletic trainer at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for six years. His thirteen-year sports medicine career began here at Duncanville as the assistant athletic trainer in 2000, where he worked under the tutelage of longtime head athletic trainer, Dave Burton.
Alec is a graduate of Southern University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Physical Education. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Heallth Education from Prairie View A&M University where he served as the graduate assistant athletic trainer under the athletic training legend John Mayes. He is a Licensed Athletic Trainer and also holds his national certification with the NATABOC.
Alec shares his life with his wife, the former Ms. Candace Sutton and they have two children, Myles and Alyce. The Hawkins family is very excited to be back in Duncanville and to be a part of the winning tradition.

Maya Johnson is entering her fourth year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Duncanville High School, after having previously served as a student athletic training intern with Duncanville High School athletics. She recently graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training and is a Certified and State Licensed Athletic Trainer.
Mrs. Johnson graduated from Texas A&M University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Applied Physiology and a minor in Sports Management. Upon graduation, she received a personal training certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and pursued a career in fitness and bodybuilding for 2 years before returning back to school.
With a love for sports stemming from childhood and a heartfelt desire to preserve the health and wellbeing of student athletes, Mrs. Johnson is very excited to be a part of the Duncanville family, In her spare time, she enjoys working out, cooking, spending time with family, reading and playing Candy Crush.
Kyra Shaw

Kyra Shaw is entering her third year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Duncanville High School. She is a Duncanville High School Alumni, where she was a student athletic trainer. Kyra graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. She also holds a Master of Science in Sport Management from Florida State University, where she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. While at FSU she served as the athletic trainer for the track and field team for 2 years. She is a Certified and State Licensed Athletic Trainer, and also a CPR/AED Instructor for the American Heart Association. In her spare time Kyra loves to travel and spend time with her family.

Janae Pullins

Janae is an alumni of Duncanville High School. While in high school she joined the athletic training program and continued her athletic training career through her college years. Janae attended Texas A&M University Commerce where she double majored and obtained two bachelors’ degrees of science in health and athletic training. She currently has certifications as a Licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Texas since 2008, First Aid CPR/AED Instructor for the American Red Cross since 2012, and a TSATA Sports Medicine Certified Instructor since 2011.
Janae is married to Derrick, also an alumni from Duncanville, and they have twin sons Dillion and Jackson.
