Made With Pride February 2024
Each month, Duncanville ISD honors a student, staff member, and teacher who go above and beyond. They are chosen from nominations submitted by coworkers, classmates, or community members. These individuals reflect the excellence and pride of our district, and they are Made with Pride in Duncanville.
Teacher
Central Elementary School Special Education Teacher Belinda Burks has left an indelible footprint on her students and their families. According to parent Kristin Green, “Ms. Burks' steadfast dedication and extraordinary efforts in teaching and caring for her students help improve their lives. Ms. Burks exceeds expectations as a professional as she teaches, cares for, and equips students with essential life skills that will serve them during their school career and beyond. Her commitment to their holistic development is evident through her engaging teaching methods and personalized approach to each child's needs.” Ms. Burks' ability to keep parents informed about classroom activities, progress, and any critical developments within the school creates a strong sense of community and collaboration. Parents of Ms. Burks' students feel very fortunate that their student was assigned to one of Ms. Burks' pre-k students.
Student
Eden Smith “is an exceptional 4th-grade Alexander Elementary student,” said Eden’s nominator, Chrystie Smith. Two years in-a-row, Eden has earned the Principal's Award and works hard to excel academically. These achievements are evidence of the high expectations she set for herself. Eden's bubbly personality is infectious. Her magnetism draws teachers, students, and staff to her with her warmth. There is no doubt she will achieve her goal of being a great doctor.
Staff
Wayne Bosher was promoted to Assistant Lead over Maintenance at the Duncanville High School and has done a “fantastic job”, according to colleague Laura Perez. “Mr. Bosher does everything with a smile and a great attitude.” Perez continues “Mr. Bosher is always willing to aid anyone and go further than the call of his duties.” Mr. Bosher's dependability, attention to detail, and dedication to the district have remained firm in his years of employment. According to fellow maintenance colleague Chad Rocker, “the school and staff benefit from his work ethic and warm presence. Rocker said Bosher's efforts make Duncanville High School shine.”
