State and Federal Programs

The State & Federal Programs Department is part of the Curriculum and Instruction Division. It oversees federal programs including Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV and Title I SIP. It also oversees state compensatory education, migrant services, and family engagement.

2021-2022 Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Grant Plans

A public notice and opportunity for comment is available for the 2021-2022 ESSA Grant. Below is the overview and form for submitting a comment. The public is asked to submit any comments on the 2021-2022 ESSA Grant Plans by June 20, 2021.

Title I, Part A $3,227,065

Purpose: To provide all children a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps. 

Tentative Plans:  Provide additional staff for interventions. Provide instructional coaching staff, professional development, summer enrichment programs, family engagement, and services to students identified as homeless.

Title II, Part A $473,420

Purpose: To improve student achievement by improving teaching and leadership (teacher and principal staff development).

Tentative Plans: Provide supplemental staff to improve academic instruction, professional development, and mentorship program.  

Title III, Part A $250,435

Purpose: To ensure that English learners (ELs) gain English proficiency and develop high levels of academic achievement in English.

Tentative Plans: Provide supplemental staff for intervention, supplemental technology, supplemental resources, family engagement activities, and professional development.

Title IV, Part A $240,001

Purpose:  To improve student achievement by providing all students with access to a well-rounded education, improve school conditions for learning and improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students. 

Tentative Plans: Funding will be transferred to use for Title I purposes. Funding will be used for supplemental technology, materials, reading materials, tutoring and professional development.

Duncanville ISD gives public notice of the district’s intention to apply for the 2023-2024 ESSA Federal Grant with the Texas Education Agency. If there is any member of the public who wants to provide a comment regarding the district’s application for the 2023-2024 ESSA Federal Grant application, please submit comments here until June 2, 2023 by 4:00 p.m.
