SHOULD I KEEP MY CHILD HOME TODAY?
Students should be kept at home for the following reasons:
- Fever of 100°F or greater
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Red eye with crusty or purulent drainage
- Suspected or known contagious disease
- Undetermined rash
- Persistent, uncontrollable coughing
Students should not return to school until they are free of fever (temperature of 100°F or greater) without the aid of fever reducing mediations (Tylenol, Motrin, Advil) for at least 24 hours. Students should not return to school until they are free of vomiting and/or diarrhea for at least 24 hours.
If your child has mild cold or allergy symptoms such as a nasal congestion, runny nose, occasional cough, watery eyes and no fever, parents may medicate their child at home so they are more comfortable while at school.
