Bereavement Leave

Duncanville ISD provides up to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave per fiscal year in the event of a death of an immediate family member as defined by Board Policy DEC (LOCAL).  Documentation will be required to verify the status of an immediate family member as defined in Board Policy.

STEPS TO REQUEST BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

  • Inform your immediate supervisor and the Human Resources Department within 5 days after the death of an immediate family member. 
  • Enter your own leave as you would through Skyward and if applicable request a substitute.
  • Complete the Bereavement Leave Request Form and support documentation  to the Human Resources Department at leave@duncanvilleisd.org within 15 days following the death of an immediate family member for approval.
    • Your immediate supervisor can also complete the request form on your behalf.
