Sick Leave Bank

The Duncanville Sick Leave Bank (SLB) is defined as a pool of local sick leave days contributed by eligible district employees. Benefits are for catastrophic illness or injury of the SLB member, and for absences due to catastrophic illness or injury, or death of immediate family members. (SLB Guidelines I. A.) 

During  the open enrollment period.

A catastrophic illness or injury is a severe condition or combination of conditions affecting the mental or physical health of the employee that requires the services of a licensed practitioner for a prolonged period
of time and that forces the employee to exhaust all leave time earned by that employee and to lose compensation from the district. (SLB Guidelines I. B.)
 

All employees will be subject to pre-existing conditions for the first six months of SLB membership.  (SLB Guidelines III. B.,5.)

You may terminate your membership at any time. However, the Bank retains the days donated. (SLB Guidelines IV. C.)

Complete the SLB application, including the physician’s statement and return to HR at FML@duncanvilleisd.org

Yes, one day may be required to maintain membership, if there are not enough days in the bank to meet the minimum balance requirement. (SLB Guidelines IV. F.) 

Yes, the number of days you are required to repay the next school year are based on a scale. 

If you received: 7-19 days = 1 day; -20-30 days = 2 days

The 10 consecutive days of absence provision is the requirement from the SLB for a qualifying event resulting in an absence of at least ten consecutive business days only after the member has exhausted all accumulated local, state, vacation, and non-duty/flex days. (SLB Guidelines I. C.) 

Every situation is unique depending on the number of days the employee has been docked.  Employees are encouraged to contact the Payroll Manager directly for specific information regarding his/her situation.
