Made with Pride
  • Congratulations to the October 2016 Made With Pride In Duncanville Honorees

Alleasha Austin, an Acton Elementary School library media specialist, is the Made With Pride in Duncanville – Teacher selection for the month of October. Alleasha is a librarian. However, she doesn't limit herself to duties within the walls of the library. She has taken on many duties that have helped make our campus a better place for kids.

Alleasha is the administrative manager of the campus Publications Committee. This committee is responsible for broadcasting information through the campus web page, Twitter, and Facebook. As a result of her leadership, she has come up with several innovative ways to increase our level of effective communication with our community.

At Bilhartz, we believe in educating the "whole child". Alleasha has embraced this concept by sponsoring two clubs, the book club and the technology club. As a part of the technology club, Alleasha is currently setting up maker spaces that will encourage our students to use technology to develop their creativity while having fun creating cool things.

Within all of this, she still finds time to go to every single classroom, making sure that all of our campus technology is functioning properly and offering each individual teacher tips and lessons on how to use the equipment.

Julie Karonka, a purchasing specialist, is the Made With Pride in Duncanville – Staff selection for the month of October. Julie is a veteran employee of Duncanville ISD. She has placed the best interests of our students at the forefront of her daily activities. She recently stepped up and took a leadership role in the Purchasing Dept. during the transition between Directors.

Her hard work and dedication in overseeing the purchasing and delivery of furniture and fixtures for the new Hastings Elementary campus allowed for a successful start to school.  Conscientious and patient in helping district staff with purchasing and warehouse issues.

Julie has a strong desire to do her job well and encourages others to do the same. She is always ready and willing to explain purchasing issues and help develop the best ways to get the job done. Our department and campus staff have benefited greatly over the years from her guidance and positive attention. Julie exemplifies Duncanville Panther pride!

Dorian Judkins, a second grader at Bilhartz Elementary School, is the Made With Pride in Duncanville – Student selection for the month of October. Dorian is on the Bilhartz basketball team and also serves as a campus leader in our Jr. Executives male leadership club, and regularly attends the Homework Helpers program where he can be found collaborating with his peers and helping with his homework group daily.
