• TRADITIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

     

    STAAR Prep Summer School

    This program provides additional instruction to 5th and 8th grade students who did not pass reading and/or math STAAR exams.

    June 3 - June 25 ( Monday-Thursday) 8:00-11:30 am; Breakfast served at 7:30am

    This program is a free, intensive intervention program focused on the subject area(s) in which the student was not successful. 5th and 8th grade students will retake STAAR exam(s) in June. Students are highly encouraged to attend this intervention program.

    REGISTRATION

    Registration takes place on your home campus with your counselor during the last weeks of school. There is no fee for this program.

    Bus transportation is provided. The bus schedule will be available the last week of the 2018-19 school year.

     EOC Summer Program

    This program provides additional instruction to high school students who did not pass EOC tests.

    Considerations:
    June 3 - June 27 (Monday-Thursday) 8:00-11:30 am; 12:00-3:30pm
    Breakfast served at 7:30am

    It is a free, intensive intervention program focused on the subject area(s) in which the student was not successful. Students will retake EOC exam(s) in June. Students are highly encouraged to attend this intervention program.

    Courses offered:
    Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and US History.


    REGISTRATION
    Registration takes place on your home campus with your counselor during the last weeks of school. There is no fee for this program.

    Bus transportation is provided. The bus schedule will be available the last week of the 2018-19 school year.

    2019 High School Summer Program

    This free program allows students to successfully gain academic credits. It is intended for students who passed all related state exams, but have not obtained credit for one or more semesters of the courses required for graduation.

     

    June 3 - June 27 ( Monday-Thursday) 8:00-11:30 am; 12:00-3:30pm;

    Breakfast served at 7:30am

     

    The purpose of the extended summer program for grades 9-12 is to provide high school students with the opportunity to master the essential elements of incomplete/failed courses.

    Course Offered: English I, II, III, IV, Environmental Science, Biology, IPC, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra I, II, Geometry, Math Models, Pre-Calculus, World Geography, World History, U.S. History, Government, Economics, Spanish I, II

    REGISTRATION

    Online Registration Opens May 7: Parents may register online through Family Access if the counselor has pre-approved the course(s). The parent must go to the parent portal login, complete/verify the student emergency information.   To enroll online, the student must be currently enrolled in DISD (school year 2018-19). Select the student enrolling into summer school. Go to Online Forms section. Click Fill out Form next to student’s name and complete the form.

    Once submitted, the parent will receive an auto-reply email with pertinent information. This ensures the student is enrolled in summer school. The enrollment process is complete.

    Non-DISD students must enroll in person May 28 from 8:00am-2:00pm or May 29 from 8:00am-2:00pm.

    There is no fee for students currently enrolled in Duncanville ISD for this program. Out of district students will be charged $200 per course.

     2019 Acceleration High School Program (Digital Learning)

    This online, tuition-based program allows students to successfully gain academic credits outside of traditional summer school setting. The purpose of this program for grades 9-12 is to provide high school students with the opportunity to accelerate their high school programs.

    Students must attend the first day of summer school for instructions on June 3 at 8:00am. Independent work is to be completed by the last day of summer school on June 27.

    Course Offered: English I, II, III, IV, Environmental Science, Biology, IPC, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra I, II, Geometry, Math Models, Pre-Calculus, World Geography, World History, U.S. History, Government, Economics, Spanish I, II

    Tuition

    Tuition is $125 per class. Tuition for out-of-district students (those students not residing in the Duncanville ISD attendance zone) is $200 per class. The tuition may be paid by cash, money order, or cashier's check. No personal checks will be accepted.

    Gen Ed Pre-K/K Summer Program for students entering Kindergarten & 1st Grade

    The Pre-K/K Summer program is designed to meet the needs of students with the need for additional instructional support.

    June 3-June 27 (Monday-Thursday) 8:00-3:30 pm; Breakfast served at 7:30am

    In the prekindergarten summer school program, instruction will focus on literacy, academic and social skills. The kindergarten program is designed to accelerate academic skills in reading and math. The program is open to students by invitation only and is free for designated students who will be entering a kindergarten or a first grade in the fall of 2019. The prekindergarten program and the kindergarten program will be held at Bilhartz Elementary School. Breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge.

    REGISTRATION

    The school will send home a paper registration application and an online registration form for students that are invited to attend and that are currently enrolled in the prekindergarten or kindergarten program.

    Bus transportation is provided. The bus schedule will be available the last week of the 2018-19 school year.

    Bilingual Summer Program

    The Bilingual program is designed to meet the needs of students with limited English proficiency.

    June 3-June 27 (Monday-Thursday) 8:00-3:30 pm; Breakfast served at 7:30am

    In the prekindergarten summer school program, instruction will focus on language development, academic and social skills. The kindergarten program is designed to develop language and to accelerate academic skills in reading, writing and math. The program is free for Limited English Proficient students who will be entering a kindergarten or a first grade bilingual in the fall of 2019. The prekindergarten program and the kindergarten program will be held at Bilhartz Elementary School. Breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge.

    REGISTRATION

    The school will send home a registration application for students currently enrolled in the prekindergarten or kindergarten program.

    Bus transportation is provided. The bus schedule will be available the last week of the 2018-19 school year.

    DUNCANVILLE HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOOL ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES

    Pre-enrollment is essential for the following:

    • A student who failed a course in the first semester of the 2018-2019 school year.
    • A student who failed a course in a prior year.
    • A student who wants to accelerate his/her high school program.
    • A student who has not been successful on End of Course Exam.

    Pre-enrollment begins May 7.

    Students are assigned classes on a first come/first serve basis. Therefore, it is very important that students pre-enroll as early as possible.

    Students who have pre-enrolled are completely enrolled. They should report to their summer school location on June 3 for EOC Preparation or for Credit Recovery or Credit Acceleration.

    Students/Parents may register online starting May 1 for all programs listed above.

    Go to Online Forms section

    Click Fill out Form next to student’s name

    Select desired course. The maximum number of semester courses that can be taken is four.  The maximum number of credits that can be taken is two. Review the selected courses, session dates and total tuition. Total tuition applies only for students taking High School Acceleration courses. EOC Preparation and Credit Recovery courses are free to the student.

    Payment will be accepted at Duncanville High School on May 28 and 29 in the form of cash or money order only. Payment must be received in order for enrollment to be complete.

    Click Complete 2018-2019 Summer School, clicking the button will generate an email confirming your request. The enrollment process is complete. If you do not receive an email, please contact your child’s school to update your email address.

    Regular Enrollment:  Students who do not pre-enroll MUST enroll at Duncanville High School High School during the following times:

     

    EOC Preparation:  Wednesday, May 29 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

    Credit Recovery:  Tuesday, May 28 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 or Wednesday, May 29 between the hours of 8:00-2:00pm.

    Credit Acceleration:  Tuesday, May 28 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. or Wednesday, May 29 between the hours of 8:00-12:00 pm. Tuition is $125 per class.  For out of district students, the tuition is $200 per class.

    Out-of-District Students: All out of district students must enroll in person.  

     

    It is the responsibility of the student to enroll in the correct course and to complete the necessary forms for grade reporting to his/her home school. Tuition for out-of-district students is a set fee of $200 per class, payable at the time of registration. PERSONAL CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Cashier’s checks and money orders should be made payable to Duncanville ISD.
