Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!
I am a Spanish 1 teacher and am very happy to be part of the DHS family. Although my native country is Colombia, I have been in the United States more than half of my life. I have four years of experience teaching Spanish 1 through 4. Because of my educational background in Industrial Organizational Psychology, I love being able to bring a little bit of Psychology into the classroom environment. However, my passion is teaching Spanish. Teaching students how to speak another language and to become more diverse thinkers are my two most important goals this year.
For students to be succesful in Spanish, they must practice everyday. Memorizing and practicing 5-10 new words each day is a key to developing vocabulary skills in the target language. In addition, students should practice speaking Spanish inside and outside of the classroom. Great ways to do this include teaching someone else what is learned in class and practicing with this person. Please check this website often as I update additional resources frequently.
