Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to read up on me!
I was born in Palo Alto, California, just south of San Francisco. I grew up in the Bay Area, next to Oakland, in a city named Hayward. I moved to Mansfield, TX when I was 12 years old and I've lived there ever since. As a child I wanted to be an astronaut, a doctor, and a lawyer.
I later found out astronauts needed to have a strict diet. My love of tacos presented a strong problem with this option. I couldn't say no to tacos, so I decided to abandon my astronaut dreams. After my freshman year in college, I had the oppertunity to volunteer at a hospital in Acapulco, Mexico. There I discovered my stomach didn't particularily like what doctors had to smell on a daily basis. As such, I discarded that option as well. My last year in college, I was attending legal clinics with the Legal Aid of Northwest Texas. There, I helped people in difficult situations access much needed legal assistance. it was rewarding, but it was not as satisfying as I hoped it would be.
By luck, I was asked to give a presentation at a middle school through my Pre-Law program. It opened my eyes to the beauty, the challenges, and importance of teaching. I discarded my legal ambitions and decided to become a teacher.
I started teaching for Dallas ISD in 2013. My experience there was exciting and rewarding. I aim to have an even better experience here in Duncanville, ISD.
Thank you for stopping by! I look forward to working with you this school year!
