English IV Teacher/Department Chair

Wow! I have learned quickly that there is no place like home."  I am excited to be a part of the Duncanville ISD Family…again! I began my teaching career on the Duncanville High School campus in 1994. We, the professional staff at Duncanville High School, are led by instructional leaders who understand what our students need.  All students need quality instruction in every classroom where excellence occurs everyday.

I am originally from Memphis, Tennessee, but I got to Texas as fast as I could. I have worked with children in grades K-12, in four other districts in Arkansas and Texas.  Additionally, I have been an Adjunct Professor at Dallas Baptist University since 2011. This 2019-2020 school year, I will be entering my 26th year in education and my 21th year teaching in public schools. Public schools, rock!

Teaching is something that I love to do. I earned an Associate of Arts Degree at the University of Arkansas at Ft. Smith (formerly Westark Community College), a Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (K-12) at Dallas Baptist University.

I understand first hand that information without application will not lead to transformation. I will learn in conjunction with my colleagues and our students. I firmly believe that all children can learn when they volunteer their attention. I will be vigilant about utilizing the skills and evidence-based practices learned and in an honest effort vow to help all children grow academically and socially...no matter what.

I look forward to helping your children become the best that they can be as we take to heart the mission of Duncanville High School. Thank you in advance for partnering with me and the Duncanville ISD community as we provide a "supportive learning environment with high academic expectations for each student to develop skills to achieve lifelong success and contribute to society.”

Welcome to Panther Country!

Sincerely,

Dr. Angela D. Banks, Ed.D.
