Hello, my name is Dr. Amy Anderson. I am pleased to support Duncanville High School as Assistant Principal of Academic Support. I am here because I believe our students can achieve to the highest levels. It is a privilege to serve with a team that is focused on exemplary student support and success. The main departments I am responsible for are student achievement and teacher support in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Advanced Academics.
My background is as a math facilitator for Duncanville, supporting mathematics at the district level for two years, and teaching secondary mathematics in Denton for 9 years.
I earned a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2008 from UNT, a Master’s in Math and Science Curriculum from the University of Houston in 2013, and a PhD from UNT in Curriculum and Instruction in 2019.
I teach a Pre-Algebra class at the community college level for students who are developing mathematic understanding to pass the entrance exam. This is where I began my educational journey; it is fun to give back.
The world is a beautifully diverse planet filled with people we can learn from. I also serve as teacher coordinator for an International Teacher to Teacher Exchange program that partners teachers from North Texas with teachers from Central America for two weeks during the summer. We learn from each other when we get to know each other.
My husband and I have three children, one grown, one is a Junior at Texas State, and the youngest is a freshman at Texas Tech.
When not at work, I love to listen to live music and backpack in the Rocky Mountains for DAYS!
Do not hesitate to reach out. I am here to serve you.
Amy Anderson Ph.D.
Assistant Principal of Academic Support
