• Panther Nation –

I know many of you are concerned about what the remainder of our school year is going to look like. We don’t have all the answers at this point, but I want you to know that we are working hard to make sure we are moving forward with the things we can control.

As you’re probably aware, Duncanville ISD announced this week it is closing indefinitely because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) with plans to reevaluate regularly. That decision is impacting many of our traditional end-of-year activities.

We have had to make some difficult, but necessary decisions. One of those is to cancel prom. Duncanville High School planned to hold prom at the Waxahachie Civic Center on April 11. That is no longer possible or two reasons:

    1.     The Waxahachie Civic Center was ordered to close until at least May 8.
    2.     The district is closed indefinitely.

We know this is a milestone celebration that plays a major part in culminating your high school experience, and we are sorry to have to cancel. This is an unprecedented situation, and we are doing our best to make decisions that place health and safety first.

What’s next?  All scholars who purchased a prom ticket will receive a full refund. We will communicate the process for obtaining your refund soon.

    Sincerely,
    Michael McDonald
    Executive Principal
    Duncanville High School
