Superintendent’s Report

Early Learners

Duncanville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith began his report by sharing that Fairmeadows Elementary School teacher, Mrs. Coleman has invited him to Fairmeadows each year to visit our youngest learners. The Pre-K students were learning about community helpers and they had lots of questions for Dr. Smith: what do you do as superintendent, what does a school board do, does he drink coffee, and how old he is? Dr. Smith also visited the students in Mrs. Rosero’s and Ms. Cardenas’s classrooms.

DHS Choral Department’s Mr. Doucet and Mr. Johnson are doing a spectacular job in exposing our students to amazing once-in-lifetime experiences.  While in New York, students participated in a musical theater workshop with Broadway performers, attended two musical theater performances, and toured several historic sites.

DHS Makes the All-State: Band and Choir

Exciting things continue to happen in the Duncanville Band and Choral Department. Three DHS Band students and six DHS Choirstudents will represent Duncanville ISD at the Texas Music Educators Association as All-State Musicians. Only the top 2.6% of musicians who initially audition are selected to become All-State musicians! These students were chosen through a competitive process at the TMEA Area competitions held this year across the state at District, Region, and Area levels. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive and they qualify to perform in a TMEA All-State music group.
