On Tuesday, November 5th, the Duncanville High School Band competed in the UIL Area C Marching Band Contest at Mesquite Memorial Stadium in Mesquite, TX. Following a standout performance, they placed second in the preliminary round, earning the opportunity to perform again in the finals later that evening at 9:15 PM. It is with great excitement that the band announces their advancement to the UIL State Marching Band Contest, which will take place on Monday and Tuesday, November 11th and 12th, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX.
This marks the band’s 27th appearance at the UIL State Marching Band Contest since its founding in 1979, the most of any 6A band in Texas. The band is proud to once again be among the top 40 bands from across the state, competing in this prestigious event that highlights the incredible dedication and talent of both students and staff.
Additionally, before the band's performance on Monday evening, former Duncanville High School Band Director Jeff King will be inducted into the UIL Hall of Fame, an honor that reflects the school’s rich tradition of excellence in music education and performance.
The Duncanville High School Band will perform in the preliminary round on Monday, November 11th, at 7:00 PM in the Alamodome. Bands that advance to the finals will perform on Tuesday, November 12th, between 2:00 and 5:45 PM.
The UIL State Marching Band Contest is a premier event, not only in Texas but nationwide, setting a high standard for excellence in high school music programs. The band is honored to be part of this prestigious tradition and looks forward to showcasing their talent at the state level.
