Due to high demand, the district has decided to increase the number of seats available to students in the 2022-2023 Middle School Choice Programs. Duncanville ISD offers three choice programs for middle schoolers.
The Business & Technology Program at Reed Middle School
Students will study computer programming through this program, explore hardware design and development, and create an app. Students will earn high school credits as middle schoolers. The program provides a foundation for continuing studies in high school. Current 6th-graders may apply.
The Health Science Program at Byrd Middle School
Through this program, students become medical detectives, learn to analyze medical data, and diagnose diseases. They’ll study disease outbreaks and design a therapeutic toy for a child. The program preps learners to enter the health science learning pathway in high school. Students will earn high school credit during middle school, too. Current 6th-graders may apply.
The STEAM Academy at Kennemer Middle School
This program encourages design thinking. Elements of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) are embedded in day-to-day coursework. Students will earn high school credit in middle school. Current 5th-graders may apply.
