It was a Swingin' Soiree at the Shine Auditorium for the 2024 'Employee Appreciation.' During this year's celebration, each campus Teacher of the Year, 'Spirit of a Champion' winners, employees with five years of service and more, and retirees were honored at the annual celebration.
This year's theme was a Swanky Soirée, a nod to the 'Roaring Twenties.' Guests were asked to "Step back in time and join us for a night of glitz, glamour, and fun celebrating roaring success." Prior to the ceremony, honorees, their guests, and district employees mingled, took pictures, and ate tasty food while dressed in 20s attire.
During the evening, employees who had five years and dominations of five and up were honored for their years of service, and retirees were honored for their years in education. Three 'Spirit of a Champion,' winners were acknowledged and honored for their outstanding contribution to education in Duncanville ISD. Winners were Dedric Williams and Clifford Reed, both CTE Teachers at Duncanville High School, and Kristi Mullins, Reading Academy Coordinator.
At the end of the night, two teachers, elementary and secondary were chosen as 'Teacher of the Year' for the entire district. Lupita Villalobos, Smith Elementary teacher, won for elementary teacher of the year. Erin Jackson, Duncanville High School teacher, won for secondary teacher of the year.
