2020 Teacher of the Year Returns to Duncanville ISD as an Assistant Principal

Alex Horton returns to Duncanville ISD as an assistant principal at Daniel Intermediate School. In 2020, Mr. Horton was selected as Duncanville ISD’s Secondary District Teacher of the Year. 

Mr. Horton began his education career as a paraprofessional at Duncanville High School before earning his teaching degree. For seven years, he taught Social Studies and U.S. History at Duncanville High School. Mr. Horton took an assistant principal position in Dallas ISD before returning to Duncanville. 

Mr. Horton was a member of the 2019-2020 cohort of the Inspiring Leadership Academy, Duncanville ISD’s leadership training program which was created to develop strong leaders from current district employees.  Mr. Horton describes himself as a highly passionate and dynamic educator with proven expertise in data-driven teaching, servant leadership and high quality program development. 

Mr. Horton earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Southwestern Adventist University and a Master of Arts in Education Leadership from the University of North Texas.
