District Staff, Students and Families Recognize School Board
In Duncanville ISD, we have been celebrating Board of Trustees all year long and will continue to do so as part of January’s School Board Recognition Month.
It began in August, when the Duncanville ISD School Board was named the Region 10 Outstanding School Board of the Year. A couple of months later, the district leadership was Top 5 Honor Board Finalist in the state.
The school board members volunteer their time to serve in this elected position. Each of them love this community and make personal sacrifices to support our schools. The trustees set the vision and outline the road map for Duncanville ISD.
To recognize their hard work, each campus donated artwork with the theme “Rising Above” that was displayed in the boardroom over the past week.

Superintendent’s Report
Duncanville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith opened his report celebrating the Duncanville High School football team for their State Runner-Up finish at AT&T Stadium in December. It’s not the ending they hoped for, but you cannot take for granted the grit, skill and dedication it takes to make it to the state championship football game four times in the past five years.
Dr. Smith also shared information about the district’s middle school choice programs –Byrd Middle School Health Science Program, STEAM Academy at Kennemer Middle School, and Reed Middle School Business & Technology Program. All three programs are accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year.
