Every month the Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees convenes a regular meeting to publicly address the business of the school district. Meetings are held at the Duncanville ISD Education Plaza (710 S. Cedar Ridge Drive.) A highlight of board decisions at this month’s meeting on Monday, January 13, 2020 includes the following:

Board of Trustees Celebrated as Part of School Board Recognition Month

Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith began his report sharing information about an active shooter training that was hosted on January 6 at the Duncanville High School’s Alexander Auditorium. School leaders and local law enforcement gained valuable information from presenters across the state.Duncanville High School choir student advance to State

Eight Duncanville High School students were selected to advance to the State competition in San Antonio next month. The group of eight is the largest ever from DHS to qualify for State. In addition to the students’ individual accomplishments, the acapella choir is the only high school ensemble invited to perform at the opening session of the State convention this year.

Dr. Smith spoke about the middle school choice programs application window, which is currently open through Jan. 31 to students who live within the district boundaries. A parent information meeting for all three choice programs will be held Jan. 14 at Kennemer Middle School at 6 p.m.

Dr. Smith concluded his report with a reminder that Martin Luther King Day is on Jan. 20. District offices and campuses will be closed that day and will resume on Jan. 21.
