Duncanville ISD, DHS, Kennemer Receive Distinction for Contribution in Theatre Education

Duncanville ISD is proud to announce its recognition as a Recognized District of Distinction by the Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA). This prestigious award honors schools and districts making exceptional contributions to raising the standards for theatre education through achievement, resource curation, diversity, and advocacy for theatre arts.

Additionally, Duncanville High School and Kennemer STEAM Academy has been named an Outstanding High School and Outstanding Middle School of Distinction by TxETA.

“We are immensely grateful to our dedicated staff for providing our students with extraordinary opportunities in our theatre programs,” said Paul Doucet, Director of Fine Arts. “From acting to costume and set design, and from lights to sound, our theatre programs offer incredible experiences for our community.”

To earn these esteemed honors, schools, and districts across the state were evaluated in various categories, including theatre course offerings, performance opportunities and venues, theatre curriculum, leadership, advocacy, technology, and administration attendance. All applications were reviewed and verified by an awards committee.

TxETA aims to support, promote, and expand educational theatre at all levels by providing educational opportunities, building a network of resources and support, and creating a forum for establishing standards, programs, and projects to celebrate the importance of theatre.
