Benjamin Whitfield, Duncanville High School senior, is getting the honor of being invited to play in the prestigious United States Army Bowl Saturday, December 17, at Ford Center at The Star. Whitfield is among 80 selected to be invited to play a game billed as the nation's "Biggest Week" in high school football. The U.S. Army Bowl week will spotlight high school players in an East vs. West match-up to be watched across the Bally Sports regional networks.

"It's an honor for them to recommend me for this game," said Benjamin when asked about getting the news he had been selected. "I appreciate the honor." Benjamin will bask in that honor in the same stadium that local NFL giants, The Dallas Cowboys, practice in during their season.

"We couldn't be more proud of Benjamin," says the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Marc Smith, of Benjamin's selection to compete. "As Superintendent, It is always good to see our students receive accolades and rewards that they deserve. He's a model of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. He's going to represent us well in the United States Army Bowl, and he will also represent us well as he advances his career."

Not only has his skills earned Whitfield the honor of playing in this game, but he's got the attention of college football powerhouse TCU. The three-star recruit is committing to play for TCU in the fall.

The event concludes with a live telecast featuring U.S. Army All-Americans announcing their college commitment on National Signing Day.
