The Duncanville High School High Hats drill team took home several awards, including sweepstakes, at the Texas Dance Classic competition in March.
The High Hats officers earned Division 1 ratings in the Judges’ Award for Pom Routine, Best Overall Bronze for Presentation and first runner up in the Best in Class Officers - Medium School. To earn sweepstakes, dance teams must earn a Division 1 rating in all contest entries.
The High Hats also performed three team dances, which earned them the following Division 1 sweepstakes ratings:
Gussie Nell Davis Award for earning 93 and above in all contest entries
Judges’ Award for Team Pom
Judges’ Award for Team Lyrical
Judges’ Award for Team Field
Best Overall Team Platinum for Presentation, Precision, Technique and Choreography
Sportsmanship Award - other teams at the contest nominate a winner
WOW Award for Team Lyrical
Best in Class Team - Medium School - First Runner Up
Fifth Place in Best of the Best of participating teams
