Duncanville ISD welcomes Latonia Dennis to her new role as principal at Smith Elementary. Dennis has spent her professional career in the same school district. She began working in public education as a math teacher at Reed Middle School in 2010. She continued her professional growth by serving as a teacher specialist. She was promoted to assistant principal at Fairmeadows Elementary School.
Dennis participated in the district's Inspiring Leadership Academy (ILA), advancing her leadership skills. Also, she served as an ILA ambassador for two classes. Dennis holds a bachelor's degree in math education from Baylor University and a master's degree in education administration from Lamar University.
"I'm extremely excited and humbled by the opportunity to join the Smith community," Dennis said. "Together we will inspire, support, and grow our students." Dennis will begin serving in her new campus leadership position on July 1.
