Message from the Superintendent – Employee Work Expectations

Message from the Superintendent – Employee Work Expectations

Duncanville ISD family,

As we close out a very unique spring break, I want to communicate staff expectations for Monday when the majority of district employees begin working remotely. While Duncanville ISD is closed indefinitely, we will continue to provide instruction to students and we need essential staff to make that happen.

Duncanville ISD family,

As we close out a very unique spring break, I want to communicate staff expectations for Monday when the majority of district employees begin working remotely. While Duncanville ISD is closed indefinitely, we will continue to provide instruction to students and we need essential staff to make that happen.

Effective Monday, March 23 all professional/exempt staff are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:
- District directors and professional staff, as well as campus administrators, are expected be available between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday until further notice. Additional details regarding work expectations will be communicated by your immediate supervisor related to office hours.
-Campus-based professional staff, including teachers, will maintain office hours of 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. to support parents and students learning at home until further notice.

Only select hourly/non-exempt employees will work during the district’s closure, and only if they are pre-approved to do so by the Human Resources Department through a request that can only be made by a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Hourly employees, or non-exempt employees include groups such as bus drivers, bus monitors, food service assistants, instructional aides, secretaries, clerks, custodians and maintenance employees, must be approved by the Human Resources Department through a request that can only be made by a member of the Senior Leadership Team. If you clock in using Skyward, then you are an hourly or non-exempt employee.

These are challenging times and I appreciate your patience as we maneuver unchartered territory. I value all of our employees and appreciate your partnership through this unprecedented situation. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Marc Smith
Superintendent
