Message from the Superintendent – Safe Holidays

Message from the Superintendent – Safe Holidays

Duncanville ISD family,

As we prepare for next week’s Thanksgiving break, I’d like to express my gratitude to our parents for actively partnering with teachers to support student education. Just like our staff and students, you have earned a week off from teaching and learning. I encourage you to enjoy some quality family time while also remaining safe.

Over the past few weeks we have seen news coverage reporting an increase in COVID-19 cases across the nation including high spikes in Dallas County.  Local health officials are recommending that community members take additional precautions to limit the risk of exposure. Families are being asked to reduce the size of holiday festivities to small gatherings to immediate family and refrain from any traveling that would take you through crowded areas like airports.

It’s our responsibility to follow these guidelines while also continuing to wear a mask or face covering in public, social distance and regularly washing our hands. Taking these steps gives us the best chance to stay healthy and continue teaching students in person.

This past week the district has been doing a “Giving Thanks Countdown” to recognize our employees. Today it’s your turn. We are thanking all of our parents and guardians. You give us your best every day for students and are such an important part of the Duncanville ISD family. Check out this video and the family perks some Duncanville businesses are providing you outline at www.Duncanvilleisd.org/GivingThanks. Enjoy the break and I look forward to seeing your student back in school – virtually or in person – on Monday, Nov. 30. We are D’ville!

Sincerely,
Dr. Marc Smith
