School canceled for the remainder of the week (Feb. 18-19)

Duncanville ISD family,

The unprecedented winter weather we are experiencing requires us to close all schools and offices for the remainder of the week. Overnight we saw more snow and sleet fall, which further impacted roadways and many families without power.

Duncanville ISD has canceled school Thursday, Feb. 18 and Friday, Feb. 19.  There will be no in-person learning or virtual learning.

Our school leaders are collaborating with city and county officials, as well as public safety professionals as we monitor the weather forecast, road conditions and power outages impacting families across much of the state.

The temperatures continue to remain below freezing with little sign of relief this week. We know that many of our families are focused on their own safety, warmth and well-being, including those impacted by the townhome fire overnight near Clark and Wheatland roads. Please keep them in your prayers as they work through the recovery process.

For the most current information about Duncanville ISD, go to the district’s website at www.duncanvilleisd.org and social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Sincerely,
Dr. Marc Smith
Superintendent of Schools
