Superintendent's Scholars Recognized for Standout Academic Success

Dr. Smith with Students

Duncanville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith recognized approximately 100 high-achieving students at his annual Superintendent’s Scholars banquet. The program recognizes  students in grades 8-12 who have achieved outstanding scores on college readiness assessments such as the PSAT, SAT and AP exams.

The Superintendent’s Scholars program is intended to grow a college-going culture which develops throughout a student’s educational career.

Since the development of the Superintendent’s Scholars program, students have had the opportunity to participate in educational boot camps to maintain or grow their levels of performance on the assessment tests. As a result, students have seen their scores increase from year to year demonstrating the program’s success.

The number of students selected as Superintendent’s Scholars has increased since the program’s inception in 2018. That year there were 63 scholars, and this year there are nearly 100.
