Phil McNeely

Phil McNeely’s leadership influenced hundreds of students during his 25 years as head basketball coach at Duncanville High School. His success landed him among the top 100 of ‘the brightest and the most unforgettable icons and legends in the sport’s illustrious history’ according to the University Interscholastic League (UIL).

Mr. McNeely’s teams brought home three state championships in 1991, 1999 and 2007. In his career, he accumulated a record of 704 wins and 170 losses.

The UIL recognition is intended to honor 100 of the top coaches to walk the sidelines in UIL history, while celebrating 100 years of UIL sports. Mr.  McNeely joins 99 other celebrated coaches on the organization’s social media accounts and here on the league’s website.

Mr. McNeely retired from Duncanville ISD in 2010, but his service never stopped. He successfully ran for a place on the school board and has been a trustee for 11 years. Mr. McNeely and his wife Renee - a retired teacher and school counselor for Duncanville ISD and former school board trustee – are frequent fans at the high school’s basketball games.
