Runners take to streets in Heart of Duncanville 5K

5k Race

For the second consecutive year, Ben Franklin Apothecary is hosting the Heart of Duncanville race. All proceeds from the run benefit the Duncanville ISD Education Foundation, which in turn supports teachers and students.  On Saturday, October 10, the Second Annual Heart of Duncanville 5K run/walk is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. at Ben Franklin Apothecary located at 302 N. Main Street, Duncanville. The scenic course route will take runners and walkers down Main Street, through Lakeside Park and several of Duncanville’s original neighborhoods.

The event will be chip-timed and all pre-registered participants will receive a t-shirt. Medals will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers in each age group. The top overall male and female winners, along with the top male and female master’s winners (participants over 40 years old) will receive a $50 Luke’s Locker gift card.

Duncanville ISD employees are encouraged to participate, and the school with the highest number of staff, student and parent participation will receive a catered lunch from Kitchen’s Deli. A Spirit award for the best dressed school and the Big Heart award will also be given to Duncanville ISD staff members. After the race, runners can enjoy a rock ‘n’ roll concert from “Shades of Gray” band and free giveaways.
