Childcare Program Expands, Adds Before-School Option
Parents looking for an after-school program that allows their students to remain at their home campus and continue learning after the school bell rings will be happy to know beginning Jan. 9, Right At School will expand to all Duncanville ISD elementary schools and Daniel Intermediate School. In addition to the after-school program, Right At School will also begin offering before-school care.
In the past two years, Right At School has provided after-school learning and fun at four elementary campuses: Acton, Hyman, Bilhartz and Hastings. Services are being expanded due to increased parent interest.
“[Superintendent] Dr. Smith saw a need for parents who don’t have somewhere to take their children before or after school,” said Right At School area manager for Duncanville ISD Tia Jackson.
The expansion is intended to serve more students while giving parents confidence in an after-school environment.
Right At school programs take place at the child’s school so parents don’t need to worry about their children being transported to and from school by daycare staff.
While most daycares charge on average $150 per week and may not provide enriched learning or exercises, Right At School’s fee is $75 per week for both before and after-school care, including fitness activities, homework time, and dinner.
The program’s Disguised Learning curriculum supports school curriculum, and students are able to participate in STEM activities.
The Right At School staff receives training from the National After-School Association, and Right At School district mentors. They are trained to accommodate different learning styles, give positive guidance for behavior, and to assess students’ emotional status.
Parents of participating schools can take advantage of free registration through Nov. 30. Afterward the registration fee is $15. Discounts are available for district employees, siblings and families who receive free or reduced lunch. For more information on pricing and discounts, click here.
