Recognitions

Made with Pride in Duncanville Honorees for December Recognized

Each month, Duncanville ISD recognizes a student, teacher and staff member who exemplify what it means to be “Made with Pride in Duncanville.” All three honorees receive a gift bag, a surprise visit from district leaders and are featured in a video. They are also invited to attend the Duncanville ISD Board meeting where they are recognized for this honor.

December Made With Pride honorees with Board President

This month’s Made with Pride in Duncanville honorees include: student, Jariah Cole; teacher, Claudia Ruiz; and staff member, Lola Rodriguez.

Jariah Cole is a junior at Duncanville High School. Jariah has been a part of the Youth and Government program for the past five years and has been president at DHS for the last two years. This year, she single-handedly organized a voter registration drive and “Go Vote” field trip called Panther at the Polls. She even organized an Election Day results watch party. Ironically, she is not even old enough to vote, showing true leadership and selflessness.

Claudia Ruiz is a teacher at Brandenburg Intermediate School. Ms. Ruiz greets her students every morning with a smile and high fives and makes sure her students feel valued and important. She wants her students to know that their teacher is happy to see them every day. Ms. Ruiz has volunteered to help with the robotics club and helps the students to use their higher order thinking skills to control their robots. Her kindness and giving spirit and led to her teaching a group of students after school how to crochet. Not only that, but she is teaching them how to give back by donating those crochet items to those in need.

Lola Rodriguez is an executive secretary at the Education Plaza. Many of those around her have voiced that she a truly a servant leader and willing to step in and help anyone in need. One time in particular, Ms. Rodriguez noticed a colleague putting together a presentation at the printer room and was having trouble with the copy machine. Documents were out of order and time was ticking to get to the meeting. Ms. Rodriguez did not hesitate to help organize the presentation so that her colleague could get to her meeting in time.
