Panthers End Season Second in State, First in Fans’ Hearts

Duncanville Football

What a ride! The Duncanville Panthers brought students, staff, community members and alumni together during their impressive season-long  journey. For the first time in 20 years, the Panthers returned to the State Championship game following a perfect season. The experience was both exhilarating and heartbreaking as Galena Park North Shore made a Hail Mary touchdown in the final three seconds of the game winning the State Championship. It was a tough loss for Panthers fans, but at the same time, the ending did not diminish the thrills and accomplishments of this magical 2018 season.

The Panthers finished with a  15-1 record - the first 15 win season in school history. The team had the number one defense in the state and held opponents to an average 4.5 points per game.

Coach Reginald Samples was one of 32 nominees for the 2018 Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year. The Dallas Morning News chose Coach Samples as its 2018 football Coach of the Year.  Junior running back Trysten Smith was named Newcomer of the Year.
