Every month the Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees convenes a regular meeting to publicly address the business of the school district. Meetings are held at the Duncanville ISD Education Plaza (710 S. Cedar Ridge Drive). A highlight of board decisions at this month’s meeting on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 includes the following:
Made with Pride in Duncanville Honorees for January Recognized
Each month, Duncanville ISD recognizes a student, teacher and staff member who exemplify what it means to be “Made with Pride in Duncanville.” This month, in honor of School Board Recognition Month, the Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees were celebrated as this month’s honorees.
Students from Kennemer Middle School spoke in front of the board and thanked each member individually for the difference they have made in the district. Each board member was presented with tokens of appreciation from each campus.
Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith provided an update on current district events and information. He recognized the Duncanville High School Panthers Football head coach Reginald Samples for being named the Dallas Morning News Sports Day High School Coach of the Year and running back Trysten Smith for being named Newcomer of the Year. He also congratulated the Panthers football team on a great season.
Dr. Smith recognized all six choir students who competed in Area for advancing to All-State Choir and four band students for advancing to All-State Band. Dr. Smith was proud to announce that PACE High School graduated their second class this school year on Friday, Jan. 11.
Dr. Smith concluded his report with a reminder that January 21 is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the district will be closed. He highlighted the importance of MLK Day and why it is observed.
