District Names New Administrators

At the May board meeting, new leaders were introduced to the school district. Additional administrative movement has occurred that did not require board approval, but should be shared with district employees. 

 

Winnifred Goodman During the past month, Winnifred Goodman has been serving in her new position as Chief of Schools – Elementary. She provides leadership for all nine elementary campuses. Ms. Goodman began at Duncanville ISD as Director of Elementary Education, and was also a Director of Schools. Her most recent position was Executive Director of Academic Services.

During Ms. Goodman’s four years in the school district, she designed and co-facilitated the inaugural Inspiring Leaders Academy and led content coordinators through the development of districtwide academic events, such as Math Mania. Ms. Goodman has also played a significant role in the implementation of a new curriculum and the design and implementation of the Duncanville ISD’s first full day pre-kindergarten program. 

 

Tiffanie King Tiffanie King is the new Executive Director of Academic Services. She has been an administrator and leader in Mansfield ISD. As a principal, she proposed and developed a two-way dual language school of choice campus. Ms. King received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, Master of Education from Tarleton State University, and is working on her Doctor of Education at Texas A&M University - Commerce. 

 

Sherri Smith Starting with the new school year, Sherri Smith will become Director of Professional Development. Ms. Smith has been the principal of Central Elementary School for five years. Prior to that she was an instructional coach and a classroom teacher. She has been with Duncanville ISD for 18 years. 

Under Ms. Smith’s leadership, Central Elementary has set a high standard of achievement and parent engagement. Staff and students at Central have flourished. Student achievement is up, participation in after school activities and clubs has increased and staff retention is among the highest in the district. 

 

Norbert Whitaker Norbert Whitaker is the new Director of Student Services. He was a secondary principal in Fort Worth ISD, and was previously a teacher in Lancaster ISD. Mr. Whitaker earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Grambling State University, Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctor of Education from the University of North Texas.
