Duncanville ISD used 'The
Force' to create a Star Wars-themed float for the city's "Christmas in the
Stars" holiday parade on Friday, December 4. The district's entry featured
students dressed in Santa hats brandishing blue light sabers, a video screen
playing fight scenes from the Star Wars series and a huge reproduction of an
AT-AT vehicle from the Empire Strikes Back movie created by Tamara Gurnell's
construction class at Duncanville High School. Alexander Elementary School's
drum line performed on the float along the parade route.
Carla Fahey, Janice Savage-Martin and Tom Kennedy from the
Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees rode along on the float along with members of
the district's administrative team: Assistant Superintendent for Campus
Support, Mike Chrietzberg, Chief Financial and Operations Officer, Ronald
Kuehler and Dr. Sandra McCoy-Jackson, Assistant Superintendent for
Curriculum and Instruction.
Choirs from several of Duncanville ISD's elementary campuses
performed following the official tree lighting ceremony.
