Baseball Field to be Named after Legendary Coach Bob Rombach
Duncanville ISD will soon rename its high school baseball field to honor Coach Bob Rombach - whose name is synonymous with great baseball in Duncanville. During the 23 years he taught and coached at Duncanville High School, Rombach developed the baseball program into one of the most highly recognized in the state of Texas – sending dozens of players to college teams and to the pros. Rombach earned more than 500 wins as head baseball coach at DHS, and he collected more than 800 wins during his 39-year career as an educator.
Throughout Rombach’s tenure at DHS, Panther baseball teams appeared in the UIL playoffs 19 consecutive years and went to the state tournament four times. In 1990, Rombach led the Panthers baseball team to the Class 5A State Championship and that same year was elected to the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame.
Coach Rombach retired from Duncanville ISD in 2007, where he was known for his leadership and unwavering support of the district. After a two year battle with cancer, Coach Rombach passed away in December of 2015. He leaves behind his wife Deanna, daughters Amy and Tracy, son Deron and eight grandchildren.
