Summer School

Duncanville ISD - Summer School 2016
Elementary School-Summer school courses will be held at Bilhartz Elementary School at 6700 Wandt
Drive in Dallas, TX 75236.
Bilingual Summer School - Only for Pre-K and Kindergarten students identified as English Language
Learners (ELL). Students are notified by campus administrators.
June 7 – June 27 (Monday through Friday)
Special Education Extended School Year – Only for Pre-K through 4th grade students identified by a 
school committee. Students are notified by campus administrators.
June 7 through July 14 (Monday through Thursday)
Intermediate and Middle School-Summer school courses will be held at Hardin Intermediate School at
426 E. Freeman Street in Duncanville, TX 75116.
STAAR Student Success Initiative (SSI)-Preparation only 5th and 8th graders who need to pass the STAAR test in Reading and/or Math
June 7 - June 22 (Monday through Friday)
Retest dates include:
-     June 21 – Math
-     June 22 - Reading
Middle and High School summer courses will be hosted at Reed Middle School at 530 E. Freeman Street 
in Duncanville, TX 75116. Duncanville High School is closed this summer for technology and security upgrades. 
STAAR End of Course (EOC) Preparation for 9th-12th graders
June 7 – July 14 (Monday through Thursday)
Retest dates include:
-     July 11- English I
-     July 12-Algebra 1
-     July 13– English II
-     July 14 – Biology
-     July 15– US History
Exit Level TAKS Retest dates include:
-     July 11 - Language Arts
-     July 12- Mathematics
-     July 13 – Science
-     July 14 - Social Studies
Testing will begin at 8:00 a.m. each day. Students must have a student ID to test. Students must 
arrive at Reed Middle School no later than 7:45 a.m. at Freeman entrance

Credit Recovery (7th-12th graders) and Course Acceleration (9th-12th graders)

Session I: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Session II: 12 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Pending enrollment numbers)
Registration for Credit Recovery and Course Acceleration
is June 8 and June 9 from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Reed Middle School.
All fees for Course Acceleration must be paid in full at the time of registration. Payments are 
only accepted in cash or money order.
-     In-District tuition is $125 per course
-     Out-of-District tuition is $200 per course and only allowed if seating is available and a 
current- year report card is necessary

Course Credit
Upon successful completion of all course requirements, credit will be posted to student’s official
transcript. The highest grade a student may receive is a 70.
Attendance & Progress
Due to the amount of material and information to be covered in a short period of time, regular 
attendance is necessary.  Students enrolled will not be allowed to miss more than 2 days without 
being dropped from the class with no credit.  Two tardies will constitute an absence. The student 
will be dropped from summer school after the second absence.
Credit Acceleration (9th -12th graders only)
Students are expected to attend the first day, 6/14/16 on time. After 6/14/16, attendance will be 
taken “virtually”. Three days of no logins and/or less than 20% weekly progress will result in 
dismissal from the program. All tests must be taken on campus. If dismissed, no refunds of tuition 
will be given.
Dress Code
The Duncanville ISD code of dress will be enforced during summer classes. When on campus, students 
are expected to arrive at school in dress code.  If out of dress code, students will not be able to 
enter a lab.  Administrators are the final authority on all dress code issues.
All students are expected to be in compliance with the Duncanville ISD Code of Conduct. Students 
receiving discipline referrals are subject to dismissal from the program with no refund of tuition.

Transportation is provided by the district. Access more details at From there, 
click on “Department” and choose “Transportation.” Step-by-step instructions on finding your bus 
pick-up and drop-off locations are below.

Step 4 - Type in your address – Use All Grades – Do not use program option
Step 5 - Click Go and select your correct address, street, and zip
Note: You will see multiple school options but for summer we are only using Hardin for SSI and Reed 
Credit Recovery / EOC.
Step 6    - If you live within two miles of Reed or Hardin no bus information will be provided 
since you are within a designated walk zone and you are finished.
Step 7 - If Hardin or Reed is highlighted then you can continue and click on the appropriate campus 
for bus information. The system will show you the closest stops to your house, bus number, and time 
of pick up.
Step 8 - Click on View Map button on the bottom and you can see your address and the closest stops 
to the address you entered.
Note: Neighborhoods with a Duncanville ISD Campus close by will be picked up at the closest campus 
to your address.
