When teachers return to school in August, they’ll find a new support system waiting for them. The Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees recently approved the addition of 12 Teaching Specialist positions for the 2016-17 school year budget. The Teaching Specialists will be divided among all district schools, with three assigned to assist teachers at Duncanville High School.
Teaching Specialists will work with new teachers to help them plan engaging lessons with the district’s curriculum – newly implemented last year – to help both students and teachers succeed. The specialists, who are seasoned, highly-regarded educators, will also build relationships with teachers to help them enhance what they are already doing in their classrooms.
Part of the Teaching Specialists’ role is to help train and coach teachers in their specific core areas. They will also serve as instructional liaisons between the district administration and their campus to determine the specific needs and training for teachers.
The ideal candidates for the Teaching Specialist position are successful and experienced teachers with a minimum of five years in the classroom who possess a valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate with ESL endorsement. A Master’s degree and teacher leadership experience are also preferred. To view the complete job description, visit the Duncanville ISD Human Resources website.
