STEM Exploration Day Introduces Students to Future Careers

Duncanville ISD third and fourth grade students had the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and math activities during the district’s STEM Day on Thursday.

Students rotated between different stations where they extracted DNA from strawberries, created their own robots and learned about rocketry and aviation. Volunteers from the Dallas County 4-H STEM Youth Development program led the activities. Students from the agricultural departments at Duncanville and DeSoto high schools were also on hand to assist students.

Through the experiments and hands-on projects, students were able to explore different STEM related careers and gain a greater understanding of agricultural and mechanical science, robotics and mathematics.
