DHS Principal Honored as Trailblazer

Tia Simmons

Duncanville High School Principal Tia Simmons was recognized last weekend by the South Dallas Business and Professional Women’s Club, receiving the organization’s Trailblazer Award for her work at DHS.

Ms. Simmons said she was impressed with the amazing women being honored with this award. They include an Olympic gold medalist and others, like herself, who are forging a path as professional women. Like other community members she has met during her first year on the job, Ms. Simmons considers her fellow trailblazers a resource for her mission at DHS.

“These are wonderful partnerships and bridges that lead back to Duncanville High School,” Ms. Simmons said.

Simmons is the first female principal at DHS, one of the largest high schools in the state.
