Last week, nine Duncanville ISD schools received a special treat for earning Texas Education Agency (TEA) distinction designations for their 2017 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) scores. TEA distinctions indicate campuses finished in the top 25 percent of 40 comparable schools in growing students, college readiness and advanced performance.
Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith chose to reward teachers and campus staff for their hard work; so Pokey O’s Cookies and Ice Cream was brought in to all nine campuses where employees were served gourmet ice cream cookie sandwiches.
Next year, the district hopes to recognize even more campuses for distinction designations.
