Playoff hopes are high and the Panthers' confidence is soaring after beating the DeSoto Eagles for the first time in nine years. The win in DeSoto Friday night ended the defending state champion's 23-game winning streak.
"It’s always good to beat a team that has that type of reputation and winning record. We’re glad about that," Head Coach Reginald Samples said.
But Samples cautioned that the team has planned all season to take a deep run into the playoffs, so their goals go beyond defeating Desoto.
"That’s just one of the steps," Samples said. "We’re not going to get over excited about doing something that was in our plans."
The Panthers' defense, which has been praised all season long, held strong keeping DeSoto to just 14 points. Duncanville's offense finished the game with 374 yards and a final score of 24-14.
