Students from Duncanville ISD transformed themselves into residents of Whoville for the city's 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' themed parade. Students from Tamara Gurnell’s construction class at DHS built a Whoville float complete with the Grinch himself.
Art students brought the Dr. Seuss imagery to life with their painting of the float's chimney and roof. Cosmetology students got everyone into character with larger-than-life hair and makeup. The float, which also included members of the Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees, won the Grand Marshal’s prize.
Members of Duncanville High School’s band and High Hats played holiday tunes while marching in the parade, and DHS’s inclusive cheer team, the Sparklers, brought their smiling faces and unlimited spirit as they rode on their float. Byrd Middle School’s two-time District Championship football team also marched in the parade - receiving the award for Best Use of Theme.
After City of Duncanville Mayor David Green flipped the switch to light the Christmas tree, Duncanville ISD elementary and high school choirs performed for the crowd.
