Duncanville High School's fine arts programs are sending six students to the Texas Music Educators' All-State music conference next month in San Antonio.

Students who advanced to State from the DHS band are: Mercy Ogunlade - Clarinet, Jose Moreno - French Horn, Kyle Hines - Tenor Saxophone and Patrick Sanford - Euphonium

Duncanville's High School’s newest All-State Choir members are: Aadon Benson – 3rd chair, Bass 2 and Matthew Merritt – 3rd chair, Bass 1.

DHS choir had 45 singers participate in the All-State process this year. Matthew and Aadon will join the 6A All-State Ensemble at the TMEA convention in February.

All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. Around 1,700 students are selected through a process that begins with more than 64,000 students from around the state vying for this honor.

That makes those chosen for an All-State ensemble among the top 3 percent of those competing and an even smaller percentage of all music students.
