Duncanville Independent School District recently learned that the district is a semi-finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.
H-E-B received more than 1,400 applications from educators from across Texas including teachers, principals, districts, early childhood providers and school boards. Of the school district applications, judges chose 25 school districts as statewide semi-finalists including Duncanville ISD. Those semi-finalists continued on to compete in the regional judging process.
“You are helping to shape the future of Texas, and we thank you for your passion and your dedication,” said H-E-B Public Affairs Manager Jill Reynolds. “You are an inspiration to us all.”
The winning districts were announced in January. Although Duncanville ISD was not selected as a finalist, the statewide semi-finalist selection is an honor.
“I am extremely proud of the dedication that Duncanville ISD employees have for our students,” said Duncanville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith. “From the start of each school day until well after that final school bell rings, our teachers, administrators, bus drivers and custodians know that all we do is for our students. This recognition by H-E-B is another confirmation of that commitment to excellence.”
